Just in case you forgot Republican Leadership still has no spine.

On Sept 30th the US Government is going to run out of money. How can this happen you ask? Simple a budget hasn't been passed by the US Senate in FOUR (4) years. That's how. Now there is a mad scramble to make sure that a continuing resolution gets passed before then to avert a government shutdown. Why such a rush? It's election season, didn't you get the memo? It's that time of year when nothing of substance can be done (not that it happens any other time either) for the fear of rocking the boat upsetting someone and possibly losing your job.

So Republican leadership is more than happy to negotiate cave to all Democratic demands for a 6 month CR to make sure they don't get any bad press.
Is it a smart move politically? I don't know, maybe it is maybe it's not. To be honest with you all it does is show that every politician in DC has the same agenda that permeates the halls of our Capitol. Cover Your Ass. Never be brave enough to actually show that you have a set and a backbone and buck the system. The system keeps you in power and that can't be lost. NO. Matter. What.

Think about it. Congress, and the Senate in particular, has refused to do their job for the last FOUR years and refused to pass a budget. Multiple budgets have passed the House, but instead of standing on this and forcing a vote on an actual budget for next year, the Republican "leadership" capitulates and goes all weak kneed at the thought of bad press.

We continually try to send people to Congress to shrink the size of government. What has it gotten us? Nothing that I can see. Sure we have a Republican majority in the House but do we have a CONSERVATIVE majority? No we don't. I know we don't because John Boehner is still the Speaker of the House.

Harry Reid said that as long as the CR funds at the levels set by last years debt limit law would be fine by him.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said that any spending agreement would have to be at the $1.047 trillion level established by last year’s debt limit law. Current funding runs out at the end of the government’s fiscal year Sept. 30, and without new appropriations or a stopgap continuing resolution, the government would shut down.

Of course he is fine with it. None of his precious programs get cut and everyone keeps getting their welfare checks fewer and fewer of us are actually employed to pay for. Have no fear though, Republicans are going to prevent this and force actual cuts right before the elections and show they have heard the people right? Oh wait.

Sen. Thad Cochran, the top Republican on the Senate Appropriations panel, expressed hope that a deal would be reached as soon as possible.
“I think it’s a good idea to pass an appropriations bill as soon as we can. The agencies and departments need to have something they can count on in term of budget numbers for the next fiscal year,” the Mississippi Republican said. “So the sooner we do this, the better off we are going to be.”

That's right the ranking Republican on the committee hopes it can get done ASAP. Why? Well we can't get in the way of these parasites going home to campaign can we? And God forbid we show we have a spine and fight for something.

Right now is the perfect time to push for everything we want. Refuse the CR. Introduce the budget passed by the house everyday. Force them to vote on it. Best part is unlike the CR we don't have to wait until after the August recess to push it to a vote. That can happen right now. Force the damn issue. Make the tough choices. Cut the crap from this government that doesn't need to be there. Hell start with one that no one would argue with. TSA. Who would fight against them being disbanded and all fired. Well besides the Unions anyway.

So McConnell the ball is in your court. Are you going to grow up and become a man or roll over and continue as your current role of Reid's lapdog?

Somehow I'm quite certain it's going to be the latter.
